Do you get tired of running and running but not going anywhere? Are you frustrated that every day is spent maintaining the status quo giving you no time to reach for your dreams? When I was a kid, we almost always had a pet hamster. Hamsters are so funny because they will hop into their little wheel and run with all their might for a few minutes. Then they hop back out again acting so proud of themselves for running so far when really they are in the exact same spot they started out from. It might be ok for hamsters, but we are intelligent enough that running day after day without getting anywhere causes boredom and frustration very easily.
I have not been in the world of the working person very many years compared to a lot of people, but already I am tired of the hamster wheel. Last year I moved to a new state and had to find a job to support myself. It was horrible. I really want to ask some of these employers, “How do you expect anyone to get experience when you all require one or two years experience to hire?” It does not make sense. I know that I could do a better job in a lot of areas than people with experience just because I learn fast and have an excellent work ethic. To me, experience is not nearly so important as having an employee who arrives on time, works hard, pays attention, and gets along with the rest of the team. I looked at job after job with the requirement of “one to two years experience.” One car dealership needing a secretary even required that the applicants must have experience working in a dealership not just secretarial experience. Finally I found a job…and found myself on a wheel running from nowhere to nowhere.
Don’t get me wrong. I am very grateful for a consistent paycheck that gives me food to eat, a bed to sleep on, gas for my car, and a few extra things. Isn’t there a better way though? Is this all there is to life is to work 40 hours a week just to make ends meet? Does work have to mean you wrinkle your nose at the thought of Monday morning? When will I ever have time to do the things I really enjoy? These were the questions I asked myself. Then I found the answer. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme but there is a better way. I can work however many hours I want to work and multiply those hours to have complete financial freedom. I can absolutely love what I do. I can have time freedom to really enjoy life. Sure it might take a couple of years to get there but what is a couple years compared to the people who work for forty or fifty years until they are too worn to enjoy the rest of their life? What is a couple years compared to those who slave to provide for a family only to look back later and wish there had been time to enjoy the little memories?
Before I share what I have found that gives me the excitement and motivation to dream big, I want to give my definition of a job. I job is…
- An acronym J-O-B meaning just over broke. Most people probably could not continue life as normal for one month without that paycheck and very few could last six months.
- Exchanging time (one of our most precious commodities) for not nearly as much money as it is worth.
- Being ruled by an alarm clock and rush hour traffic.
- Living in instability—with the paradigm shift happening in corporations, not many of us are really safe. My supervisor just found that out the hard way.
- Working 40 hours a week for 40 years to live off 40% of what was not enough in the first place.
- Giving your life to make someone else rich and achieve someone else’s dream for them.
A much better way in some areas is to own your own business. Regretfully, that can be pretty discouraging as well though. A business owner probably ends up working more hours than ever before, has to deal with employees, wades through piles of paperwork, worries about messing up government regulations, and still lives just over broke. Most people do not have the capital to start a traditional business in the first place so go into debt. Statistics show that 98% of new businesses fail in the first two years so those poor people are left with horrible debt, crushed dreams, and no hope.
So what is my secret? It’s not really a secret at all, but it might be something that a lot of people are quick to shoot down. Network marketing has a stigma about it because of less than stellar companies who have given it a bad name. I agree completely that if you are in the wrong company, network marketing is not worth one minute of your time. However, the right company can help you get off the hamster wheel and on the stairs to success. Instead of running as hard as you can to get nowhere, you can expend effort in your own way and at your own pace to climb to higher and higher levels. With network marketing you can…
- Fall back on the efforts of your team if you run into hard times.
- Exchange your time for its full potential.
- Get up when you are ready to.
- Have a stable income with almost limitless room to grow.
- Work your own hours for complete financial freedom.
- Have no employees but be able to multiply your own efforts in your team.
- Invest an extremely small start-up cost compared to traditional business.
- Live your own dreams.
Maybe some of you are ready to write me off or say it is too good to be true. Well, let me just say please contact me before you do either one. If you are ready to write me off, I would like to know the specific reason why. If you think it is too good to be true, I am here to tell you that I am already on my way and finding more people all the time who have already succeeded. In the next few weeks, I plan to write an article specifically on what network marketing is and what to look for when choosing a company to work with. If you don’t want to wait, feel free to contact me via my contact page. If you want to know specifically what my business involves, I am proud to say that I am truly changing people’s lives for true health in all three areas—physical health, financial health, and peace of mind. You can get my free e-book to learn more.
Even if not one of my readers believes in me or themselves enough to make this change in their life, I am so excited that God has brought this blessing into my own life before I had spent it all on the hamster wheel. There IS a better way and some days I can hardly believe that I am really on it.
